As someone who loves the art of beautiful stationery, I know how much effort goes into creating the perfect invitations. From selecting the paper to carefully applying wax seals, every detail matters. But when it comes time to mail these works of art, you want to ensure they arrive just as flawless as when they left your hands. That’s where a little extra care comes in. Here are two methods to protect your invitations: hand-canceling and using outer envelopes. Both are simple yet effective ways to preserve the beauty of your invites from post office to mailbox.
Method 1 Hand Canceling:
SO, you've stuffed you envelopes ad applied your wax seals, and you're ready to get those invites out. Now what? Head on over to your local post office & ask then to hand-cancel your envelopes. Hand-cancelling means that a USPS worker will stamp or "cancel" your envelopes by hand instead of feeding them through a machine, which could damage your wax seals and/or your pretty envelopes. This is typically done for free by USPS.
Method 2 Outer Envelopes:
Outer envelopes are slightly larger than invitation envelopes, and they serve as a layer of protection for pretty mail. Simply seal your invitation envelopes and put them inside an outer envelope. Historically, outer envelopes were used to protect all mail from mud and rain when mail used to be delivered in all kinds of conditions and distances on horseback.
Even if you don't follow these methods, our flexible wax and professional grade adhesive should keep your seals firmly attached to your envelopes. However, we still highly recommend following one or both of these methods when mailing was sealed envelopes or pretty mail so that they are sure to arrive to your guests just as beautifully as you intended.
