I’ve always loved to pray to Mary. I have an incredible mom which made turning to Jesus’ mom natural. And I guess I always just preferred to turn to a girl when praying about “girl things”. More recently, I’ve felt Jesus challenging me to reconsider how I relate to mama Mary and whether I pray to Mary as “just one of many holy women” or if my prayer truly honors her in her full role as “Queen of Heaven and Earth.” Revelation 12:1 describes Mary as “a woman, clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars”. She is elegant and powerful. Jesus, knowing full well how special she is, shares His mother with us. He grants us access to her incredible intercession and grace. And I don’t want to take it for granted anymore.
Let’s celebrate the Queenship of Mary!
August 22 is the feast of the Queenship of Mary. I’ve never intentionally celebrated this feast before. But this year, I’ve decided to give Mary the honor she deserves and to celebrate her queenship! For when we honor Mary, we are imitating Christ in his honor and love for His mother. Join me in celebrating the Feast of the Queenship of Mary today!
Attend Mass
Attend Mass this week. Spend time in the True Presence of Jesus pondering what the relationship between mother and Son must have been like during their time on Earth.
Honor Mary Through the Mail This August
Our “In Corde Mariae with Auspice Maria” stationery set features the Auspice Maria (“under the protection of Mary”) with a crown, honoring Mary as Queen. Take time to handwrite a special prayer honoring Mary or use the notecard to invite a friend to join you at Mass the old fashioned way. Really dress up your letter for our Queen with an Auspice Maria Wax Seal to enclose your envelope. Have fun being intentional for Mary and inspire others through the beauty of your stationery.
Pray the Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary
If you are experiencing beautiful August weather, bring your Rosary beads and find a peaceful place to do a Rosary walk.
Visit a Grotto and Bring Mary Flowers
Research and find the closest Grotto to you and plan a trip. This makes for a beautiful date or a hands-on way for kids to visit and show Mary some love. You can even make your own flower crown to present to her.
Create artwork honoring Mary to display in your home
Our homes are domestic churches. Let’s allow our walls and shelves be spaces we remind ourselves, our family, and our guests of Mary’s Queenship. Our wax seal stamps can be used to create intaglios out of clay. After mass, go thrifting with a friend to find some small frames and create elegant and timeless art that honors the Queenship of Mary.
Mary, Queen of Heaven and Earth, pray for us!
Here's two Pieta Paperie stationeries that honor the queenship of Mary:
Queenship of Mary Stationery Bundle
Auspice Maria, Catholic Letterpress Stationery Set
In honoring Mary as Queen of Heaven and Earth, we’re given a profound opportunity to deepen our connection to her and to celebrate the love Jesus has for His mother. Through small acts of devotion and intentional prayer, we can appreciate her unique role in salvation history and invite her powerful intercession into our lives. Join me this August in embracing Mary’s Queenship, reflecting her grace and beauty in our homes, our prayers, and our hearts.
